Wilson Chebet is the 3 time winner of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon. His DNF in Boston in 2018 was tough. Wilson took a month off. He went back to training and has focused on Frankfurt since last June, and has not raced since Boston. Chebet has a PB of 2:05:27, seven years ago.

Chebet’s most recent marathon finish was October 2016, where he ran 2:08.19. How fit is Wilson Chebet? His enthusiasm in the interview suggests a confidence in himself. His lack of racing is a bit of a (sorry for this one), a trump card. Most elite Kenyans are not racing in Kenya anymore, but the lack of racing suggests a lack of race sharpness.
Wilson Chebet is, on paper, the fastest man in the field. Sunday’s meteorlogical suggestions are very cool. As the first pacemakers will hit 62:45, and the pace is not suicidal, expect a high 2:05-low 2:06. Wilson Chebet, if he is fit, should be in the thick of it. Remember, kind readers, that sometimes, focus and pride overcome statistical sheets. Wilson Chebet wants to race well in Frankfurt.
This interview was done by Andy Edwardsr of Race News Service, after the first press sessions on 25 October.
