This is part 2 of the interview with Arne Gabius. Katherine Heinig will be next. Arne Gabius gets quite animated on his training and embracing of long runs.

I asked Arne Gabius a long winded question. I asked him to comment on Kenenisa Bekele’s DNF in Amsterdam marrathon on October 21. Jos Hermans, Bekele’s manager, noted that Bekele did not respect the marathon. Renato Canova, a rather controversial and mercurial coach, and former coach of Arne Gabius, had noted that Bekele, to be successful, must embrace the marathon and radically change his training.

Well, Arne Gabius took that as the starting place. In English, he noted how you must love the long run, get enthused about the long run. Gabius gets animated when he speaks about his training. He spent more times on long tempos and long fartleks as well as 40-45 kilometer runs. He is a true believer in 45 k runs.
My guess on his fitness: 2:10:45-2:11.30. Strong, but not racing fast. Arne Gabius will do well in Frankfurt, probably top ten. Here is part 2 of his interview, with my parts in English.
