ROVERETO (ITA, Aug 23): At the 54th Palio della Quercia (EA Premium) Olympic relay champion US sprinter English Gardner competed for first time since July 2017 and won the 100 m in meet record 11.02 (+0.9) over Michelle-Lee Ahye 11.23 and Imani Lansiquot 11.24. European medalist Jak Ali Harvey of Turkey won the men´s 100 m in 10.14 (+0.7) beating Mike Rodgers 10.17 (flew in the morning from Poland where he ran on Wednesday). Good wins also for European champions Greek Miltiadis Tentoglou in long jump (800, -0.7) over Jamaican Tajay Gayle 793 (+0.5) and Christin Hussong 62.14 in javelin. In the women 800 m the Berlin gold medalist Nataliya Pryshchepa was 3rd 2:00.26 and beaten by silver winner from Berlin Renelle Lamote 1:59.58 and Lynsey Sharp 1:59.90. The middle distance star Laura Muir was 11th in 2:04.71. Ukrainian wins for European silver medalist Anna Ryzhykova 55.74 in the 400 m hurdles ahead of home Ayomide Folorunso 56.16 and Berlin bronze winner Meghan Beesley 56.18 and Andriy Protsenko in high jump on count back over Kenyan Matthew Sawe and local star Gianmarco Tamberi, all three 226. US Paul Dedewo won the 400 m in 45.30, Jamaican Ronald Levy the hurdles 13.37 (+0.7) over European champion Pascal Martinot-Lagarde 13.37. In women 400 m new national record for Niger as Amina Seyni clocked 50.69 clearly beating US Jade Stepter 51.84. Three more African wins were registered. Kenyans Cornelius Tuwei 1:46.02 in the 800 m and Stanley Waithaka (World U20 medalist, 18 years) 13:15.06 in the 5000 m ahead of 17 years old Ethiopian Berihu Aregawi 13:15.44 PB. In women 3000 m Ethiopian Meskerem Mamo clocked 8:42.19 meeting record over Kenyan Loice Chemnung 8:43.00 PB.
