FALMOUTH (USA, Aug 18-19): Caroline Chepkoech defended her title in the Falmouth Road Race (7.1 miles) in 35:48 (31:51 at 10km), leading a Kenyan clean sweep ahead of Margaret Wangari (36:43) and Mary Wacera (37:17). Ethiopia’s Buze Diriba was fourth in 38:03, one place ahead of top US finisher Melissa Dock (38:04). Canada’s Ben Flanagan won the men’s race in 32:21 (28:50 at 10km) ahead of Scott Fauble (32:23), Leonard Korir (32:28) and Kenya’s Stephen Sambu (32:32). There were mile wins for Rachel Schneider (4:27.23) over Helen Schlachtenhaufen (4:31.44) and for Craig Engels (3:58.88) over Cristian Soratos (3:59.19) on the Saturday.
