LUBLIN (POL, Jul 22): Anita Wlodarczyk was back in top form at the Polish Championships, improving to 79.59 WL in the hammer to defeat Joanna Fiodorow (74.25m) and Malwila Kopron (70.88m). Michal Haratyk went out to 21.85m in the shot put to defeat European indoor champion Konrad Bukowiecki’s 21.04m, Paulina Guba won the women’s shot put with 18.82 and Pawel Wojciechowski defeated Piotr Lisek on countback at 5.70m. On the track, world U20 bronze medallist Martyna Kotwila won the 200m title in 22.99 to break Irena Szewinska’s Polish U20 record which had stood since the 1964 Olympics and 20-year-old Klaudia Siciarz won the 100m hurdles in a marginally wind-assisted 12.74 (2.3) after 12.96 in the heats. Karolina Koleczek was second in the final in 12.94. Damian Czykier won the 110m hurdles in a wind-legal 13.37 from Artur Noga (13.56). Marcin Lewandowski won the 800m title in 1:50.27 but there was an upset in the women’s 800m with Anna Sabat defeating Angelika Cichocka, 2:06.14 to 2:06.55.
