Marie-José Ta Lou is the Cote’D’Ivorian pocket rocket. An excellent starter, Marie-Jose is now battling with her competition to the very end of the 100 meters. Perhaps, the additional strength from her 200 meter racing is helping her in the 100 meters. Truth is, this women is one of the most dangerous sprinters in the world. When RunBlogRun interviewed her in Birmingham during the World Indoors, we saw a women with true confidence. That confidence has exploded in her racing. And Lausanne, as Stuart Weir tells us, is another example of her fine racing ability.

Tonight it was Ta Lou who won in 100m in 10.90 from Elaine Thompson (10.99). That Ahouré ran 11.03 and was sixth, is an indication of how fast the race was. Ta Lou commented on her evening’s work: “My goal today was simply to win. Indeed, I haven´t been feeling well psychologically and physically. In Budapest I ran 11.12 and that was a sign that things weren´t going well. Running 10.90 in this shape is a good surprise. Beating Elaine is not important as everybody knows she is not in great shape currently. I am looking forward to the African championships beginning August hoping to win there and of course the overall win in the Diamond League as well”.
Already this year, Ta Lou has won the Diamond League 100 meters in Doha and Eugene as well as the 200 in Rome.
A real disappointment in the race was that Aleia Hobbs, who ran three sub 11 second races in two days to win the US Championships, was a non starter.
What a run by the pocket rocket Marie-Josee Ta Lou @majo10s70 to win the 100m in a swift 10.90.
