AMSTERDAM (NED): Defending champions Dafne Schippers, Churandy Martina and Anouk Vetter head Netherlands’ 46-strong team announced today for Berlin. Sifan Hassan, the 2016 world indoor 1500m champion Sifan Hassan is named only in the 5000m, for which she is favourite. Schippers, who won the 100m in Amsterdam and formed part of the winning sprint relay team, will compete in both and also in the 200m. She is joined by two of the other three from the triumphant quartet two years ago – Jamile Samuel and Naomi Sedney. Amsterdam 100m winner Martina will compete in both sprints and the relay too, while Vetter will go in the heptathlon. Netherlands has not named a women’s 4x400m squad, with the federation’s technical director, Ad Roskam, commenting to NOS on the clash in the timetable with the individual event.
