ATHENS (GRE, Jun 22): The 6th edition of the Athens Street Pole Vault was staged at Syntagma Square exclusively for women this year, but it delivered a high quality competition in fine summer weather. The biggest name was of course EkaterÃni StefanÃdi, who is gradually regaining her top form. She soared emphatically over European lead 480, before missing three times at 492, keeping thus her pre-meet promise that she would attempt to break the Greek NR. Behind her Yarisley Silva also returns to big heights, as she went over 473 in second attempt and missed 480. There was tie in third place for Holly Bradshaw and Nikoléta Kiriakopoúlou, both cleared 466 in third attempt before failing at 473 (third for Kiriakopoúlou was very close). Fifth was Eleni-Klaoúdia Pólak, the third Greek vaulter qualified for Berlin, with new PB 446, sixth for Venezuelan Robeilys Peinado, 436 and seventh Italian Sonia Malavisi, also 436.
