In his first foray outdoors, Christian Coleman had planned to run both the 200 meters and 100 meters in Eugene, Oregon. But, Coleman’s team notified meet management, and it was reported by Reuter’s Gene Cherry today, that Christian Coleman will focus on the 100 meters.

In the 100 meters, Coleman will be racing Bingtian Su, who took the silver in the 60 meters at the World Indoor Champs in March 2018, where Christian Coleman took his first global gold medal. Also in the race is 2017 Diamond League champ CJ Ujah, and Ronnie Baker, the fastest man in world in 2018, and the defending champion of the 2017 Nike Prefontaine Classic.
There will be one less in the 100 meters, as, citing precautions for a sore upper hamstring, Justin Gatlin, the 2017 and 2005 World Champion in the 100 meters, has withdrawn from the 100 meters.
The men’s 100 meters has a fantastic field, as does the women’s field (Tori Bowie and Elaine Thompson) and the men’s 200 meters (Noah Lyles, Isaac Makwaala and Ramil Guilieyev, 2017 World Champion at 200 meters). The Nike Pre Classic is being held on May 25 and May 26 at the historic Hayward Field.
