Pole Vault at Place de la Navigation
LAUSANNE (SUI): The men’s pole vault at the Lausanne Diamond League will be staged the day before the main competition (July 4) at the Place de la Navigation, informs organisers. “We will be using the infrastructure for the Fan Zones already in place to watch the football World Cup matches and as a result, will only need to setup the runway and the vaulting pit,” said meeting director Jacky Delapierre. An excellent line-up has been confirmed for the away from the stadium event, including world champion Sam Kendricks, world record-holder Renaud Lavillenie, world U20 record-holder Armand Duplantis, as well as Shawn Barber, Piotr Lisek, Pawel Wojciechowski and Kevin Menaldo.
RunBlogRun opines: I love Athletissima, the Lausanne Diamond League has a great crowd, a normally pretty wonderful night, and just one crazy circus atmosphere event after another. The pole vault and high jump were fantastic. The crowd loved their Swiss athletes, which I always enjoy. My favorite part of Lausanne is the pressers. A unique approach and also a time when Mondo, Sam and Renaud were great, but also Mariya Lasitskene spoke about the high jump, she was really tired of talking about the banning of Russia.
