GOLD COAST (AUS): Dina Asher-Smith is targeting a medal in the 200m at the Commonwealth Games but she is aiming to reach her best form at the European Championships in Berlin this August, informs Eurosport. “It’s [the Commonwealth Games] not normally in April so the challenge has been to get in good enough shape to perform well this early in the season but without jeopardising what we want to do later in the year for the Europeans. Hopefully I will be going well and peaking in August as well but it would mean so much to be on top of that podium, with it being Team England – that would be amazing,” she said. Asher-Smith will face Olympic champions Elaine Thompson and Shaunae Miller-Uibo in the 200m although it is not yet known which individual events reigning champion Blessing Okagbare will contest.
