Jenny Simpson won her sixth title at the Drake Relays. This time, Jenny Simpson moved up to the two mile distance and broke the American record, with a fine 9:16.78! Prior to the race, Jenny told Drake Relays media team that she knw it would be tough, as she was doubling her race distance, but she liked the challenge.
Jenny Simpson is the finest American woman miler EVER. Daegu 2011, gold medal at the 1,500 meters. In 2013, in Moscow, Jenny took the silver in the 1,500 meters. In 2015, Jenny lost her shoe, but still finished. In 2016, Jenny Simpson took the bronze medal in the Olympics in a titanic battle with Faith Kipyegon and Genzebe Dibaba. And then, in what I believe is her finest race EVER, Jenny Simpson ran a smart and calculated race over 1,500 meters in London, moving from sixth to fourth, to third, to silver. Jenny Simpson used all of that savvy, from years of racing, and kept her cool as the field moved away, then she grabbed back the initiative, and ran one of the finest last stretches this track fan had ever seen.
Now, Jenny Simpson starts off her 2018 season with a fast two mile. What does that say? Well, @trackjenny is fit, and strong, give her a few more races, and we see some sub 4 minute running in the 1,500 meter global wars.
