OSTRAVA (CZE): 57th Ostrava Golden Spike (IAAF World Challenge) announced for women 200 m the debut of Dafne Schippers at the meet. The Dutch double World champion said: “So great to be in Ostrava this year. It is my first time and I always hear such positive stories about this amazing meet. I want to experience this myself now and perform very well there! Very much looking forward to it.” On June 13 also a top High Jump clash is announced. World champion Mutaz Essa Barshim will meet World Indoor champion Danil Lysenko. “I am very much looking forward to my first visit in Ostrava. It will be one of few competitions outside the Diamond League. Of course I will be going for the meet record (2.33) and some more! See you all on June 13,” said Barshim. Men´s javelin after last year Czech vs Germany match will be Czech vs World select. The Czech quartett is clear with two world medalists Jakub Vadlejch and Petr Frydrych along with former World champion Vitezslav Vesely and European finalist Jaroslav Jilek. First two confirmations in the World team are top Germans, World champion Johannes Vetter and Olympic winner Thomas Rohler. “I gladly will return to Ostrava. Looking forward to meet our Czech rivals. We are one big family. Meet record of meet director Jan Zelezny 94.64 is a top result and tough to achieve, but always one good throw could happen, I will take any 90+ result,” said Vetter. Already earlier two World champions from London were confirmed Tom Walsh for shot put and Luvo Manyonga for long jump.
