Kevin Mayer and Damian Warner were battling over the 8 events of the heptathlon. It came down to the 1000 meters, and Kevin Mayer held on to the gold by five points!

Mayer is a fine multi eventer. I recall Ashton Eaton telling me to watch both Kevin Mayer and Damian Warner as two fine multi eventers. They lived up to their hype and the competition was keenly competitive. Mayer told us, in the interview, that he was sub par in his pole vault, an event from which, he normally picks up many points.
A relaxed interview, Kevin Mayer was happy winning his global title, and we spoke about the World Indoors and what he will do in the ten eventer in the Summer of 2018.
