Dibaba sub 2 minutes in her 1500 m
BIRMINGHAM (GBR): According to official split times provided by Seiko, Ethiopia’s Genzebe Dibaba covered the last 800m in the 1500m final at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham in 1:59.82 with silver and bronze medallists Laura Muir and Sifan Hassan clocking 2:00.26 and 2:01.59 respectively. Dibaba also covered the last 1500m in the 3000m in 4:03.76, although Hassan was faster over the second half of the at 4:03.12. In the men’s 3000m final, Yomif Kejelcha’s 1500m splits were 4:32.62/3:41.79. Samuel Tefera closed with splits of 25.88 for the last 200m and 52.06 for the last 400m in the 1500m final, although silver medallist Marcin Lewandowski from Poland was faster at 25.77 and 51.90 respectively. The quickest single 100m sections in the 800m came courtesy of Egypt’s Mohamed Ahmed Hamada (12.18) and the United States’ Raevyn Rogers (13.71) in the heats. From IAAF.
