Jobodwana wins 150 m, Gatlin fourth
PRETORIA (RSA, Mar 8): At the second meet of new South African Series Anaso Jobodwana won the expected 150 m in 15.08 (-0.3) with World champion Justin Gatlin fourth in 15.23. Between them Roscoe Engel 15.17 and Luxolo Adams 15.18. National 100 m record holder Akani Simbine won the 100 m in fast 10.05 (-0.8) over Clarence Munyai 10.22 and Simon Magakwe also 10.22. Interesting to see return of Ngoni Makusha of Zimbabwe winning the B race in 10.25 (+1.3), his fastest since 2011. Botswana´s Isaac Makwala won the 300 m in 31.77 ahead of Thapelo Pora 32.57. World champion Nicholas Bett posted 48.88 World lead in the 400 m hurdles and beat the home elite Le Roux Hamman 49.22 followed by LJ Van Zyl 49.45 with Cornel Fredericks 49.63 and youth champion Sokwakhana Zazini 49.82 PB. In women 400 m hurdles Wenda Nel 55.31 and in the 200 m Justine Palframan 23.32 (-1.4). Men high hurdles winner Antonio Alkana posted 13.61 (+0.3) and Ruswahl Samaai leaped to 824 (-0.7) in the long jump. At altitude good quality 7:49.48 in the 3000 m by Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei and 1:47.20 by last year World U18 Champion Kenyan George Manangoi 1:47.20 in the 800 m.
