The 60 meters at the upcoming 2018 New Balance Indoor GP on February 10, 2018 takes more importance with Christian Coleman’s 6.37 WR for the 60 meters on January 19, 2018! Coleman ran 6.47 in the semi-final and then, a fine 6.37 for the final, breaking the WR (if it is approved), by .02. The former WR was set by Maurice Greene in 1998 and equalled in 2001 by 2000 Olympic champion Maurice Greene.

Coleman, Lyles, Burrell to clash in NB Indoor 60m
BOSTON, Mass. (Jan. 18, 2018) – Christian Coleman, Noah Lyles and Cameron Burrell, three of America’s most exciting young sprinters, will all face off over 60 meters, while IAAF World Champion Phyllis Francis leads a strong 400 meters field at the 2018 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, organizers announced today.
Tickets are now on sale at www.nbindoorgrandprix.com or by calling 1-877-849-8722.
Headlining the men’s 60 meters will be Christian Coleman, who is coming off a sensational season of sprinting. Last year, he won NCAA titles at 60 meters and 200 meters indoors, and at 100 meters and 200 meters outdoors. Coleman went on to win silver medals in the 100 meters and in the 4×100-meter relay at the IAAF World Championships in London. His best time of 9.82 made him the fastest man in the world over 100 meters in 2017.
Facing Coleman in the 60 meters will be fellow Americans Noah Lyles and Cameron Burrell. Lyles had an excellent indoor season last year, culminating with a world best over 300 meters of 31.87 set at the US Indoor Championships. Though injury kept him out of the US Outdoor Championships and IAAF World Championships, Lyles recovered at the end of the season to win the IAAF Diamond League Final over 200 meters.
Burrell, in his final year as a student at the University of Houston, is coached by his father, Leroy Burrell, the former world record-holder at 100 meters. He finished second to Coleman in both the 60 meters and 100 meters at the NCAA Indoor and NCAA Outdoor Championships, respectively, and recorded a best of 9.93 seconds, making him the sixth fastest man in the world over 100 meters in 2017.
Headlining the women’s 400 meters is Phyllis Francis, who celebrated a breakthrough in 2017. After winning the US Indoor title over 300 meters, Francis qualified for the US team at the IAAF World Championships in London where she took gold in the 400 meters in a lifetime best of 49.92. In Boston, Francis will be racing against meeting record-holder Natasha Hastings, fourth in the 400 meters at the 2016 Olympic Games, Shakima Wimbley, the 2017 NCAA Indoor Champion at 400 meters, and Shamier Little, the 2015 IAAF World Championships silver medalist in the 400 meters hurdles.
In what’s shaping up to be an intriguing women’s 800 meters, Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands will feature against Great Britain’s Lynsey Sharp and American Raevyn Rogers. The reigning IAAF World Indoor Champion at 1500 meters Hassan has proven world class across the middle distances: in 2017 she was the fourth-fastest woman in the world over 800 meters and won the bronze medal at 5000 meters at the IAAF World Championships. Scottish record-holder Sharp is the 2012 European Champion at 800 meters and was a finalist at the IAAF World Championships in London. NCAA record-holder Rogers won two indoor and three outdoor NCAA titles over 800 meters while at the University of Oregon and finished fourth at the US Outdoor Championships last year.
Now in its 23rd year, the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix has played host to nine World Records and 13 American Records and will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10, beginning at 3:45 p.m.
