Tirop and Cheptegai dominate Seville

SEVILLE (ESP, Jan 21): World 10 000 m silver medallist Joshua Cheptegei from Uganda pipped teammate and world U20 cross country champion Jacob Kiplimo in the senior men’s 11.075 km at the Cross Internacional de Italica (IAAF CC Permit), 30:54 to 30:55. Ethiopia’s Selemon Barega was third in 31:01 while European 5000m champion Ilias Fifa was the top Spanish finisher in sixth in 31:39. Former world cross country champion Agnes Tirop led a Kenyan clean sweep in the senior women’s 8.265km in 25:51 ahead of Lilian Kasait (26:01) and world 5000m champion Hellen Obiri (26:03). Olympic 3000m steeplechase champion Ruth Jebet was fourth in 26:12 with Trihas Gebre the first Spaniard home in fifth in 27:08.
