Here’s the complete videos of both races from December 9, 2017. Dylan Jacobs won the boys’ race and Claudia Lane won the girls’ race. Both wer worthy champions and the races featured many of the finest cross country runners in the country. The 39th FootLocker is now history, next up, the 40th anniversary of FootLocker in 2018.
The FootLocker Cross Country Nationals, now, in its 39th year, ends the high school cross country season with a celebration. Balboa Park, in San Diego, is a sanctuary to cross country. The boys and girls races each have their own flavor and feeling. In the boy’s race, we had Dylan Jacobs always near the front. But Dylan Jacobs took this long drive to the win, from halfway, Dylan was there, and he kept the lead and a small difference as the places were changing behind him.
Dylan Jacobs had three seconds between himself and second place with his win in 15:19.7. Graydon Morris took second in 15:23.3. Here’s the complete video of the boys’ race, courtesy of FootLocker.
The girls race was all about the differences with the most dominant high school girl in cross country, and her competitors. Claudia Lane just ran away from the field. She now has won two races in a row, and if she returns in 2018, and wins, she will create history. This writer believes that she is more than capable of such a feat.
Claudia Lane won her races this season with an average of 40 seconds between her and second place. At the FootLocker West Regional, Claudia Lane won by 72 seconds.
Claudia Lane won the Champs in 17:03.4, a nineteen second win, with Katelynne Hart, and Olivia Theis, 17.22.5-17.22.6! Here’s the girl’s race, courtesy of FootLocker.
