MONACO (MON): Wayde van Niekerk’s coach Ans Botha has said they are taking his recovery “day by day” after he injured his knee in a charity rugby match last month. “We had talked about giving Wayde a gap year in the coming season, but then it was taken out of our hands. Things like this happen. We will take it day by day. We realise that it will be a long, uphill road, but we will manage,” she said. Van Niekerk is missing the IAAF Athletics Awards as he is undergoing intensive rehabilitation in Doha.
