Ezekiel Chebii, winning Lake Biawa Marathon, photo by PhotoRun.net
Ezekiel Chebii wanted a big win in Chicago. Unfortunately, the 2017 Lake Biawa champion did not reach his goal. Ezekiel ran 2:12:12 for seventh place. This interview was done on Friday afternoon. I was fascinated with his training and his belief in himself.
Ezekiel Chebii began on the roads in 2010, and his move to the half marathon provided a 59:05 half marathon and a sub 28 minute 10k on the roads. Ezekiel ran a tough and windy marathon in Japan this past March, taking the win. In Chicago he ran negative splits, but just was not in the battle at the very end. We hope Ezekiel shows his promise in upcoming marathons. Ezekiel’s brother, Abraham, has run 12:52.99 for the 5000 meters in his heyday.
This interview was focused on Ezekiel’s training and racing. A strong story on this fine athlete!
