It happens at all major sporting events. BBC TV reported this morning that there have been several cases of stomach distress aka gastrointeritis.

We know that Isaac Makwala, RSA, the star 200m/400m ace, was withdrawn from 200m last night. We understand that he may be in quarantine, but trying to confirm that right now.
Remember, Brendan Foster gained the only medal for GB in 1976 in athletics, by taking the bronze in the 10,000m after a week of stomach distress.
We wish all affected a speedy and full recovery.
MEDIA STATEMENT
There have been a number of cases of gastroenteritis reported by team members residing within one of the official team hotels for the World Championships.
Those affected have been supported by both team and LOC medical staff, in addition we have been working with Public Health England to ensure the situation is managed and contained.
As a result, further advice and guidelines have been issued to team doctors and support staff – standard procedure for such an occurrence where a number of teams are occupying championship accommodation.
