What a treat to watch Wayde Van Niekerk race! This season, Wayde has run 9.91 for 100 meters (PB), 200 meters in 19.84 (PB) and recently, on 28 June in 30.81 for 300 meters (yes, you guessed it, a PB).

On the 6 of July, we wanted Wayde run a fine 400 meters in 43.62. This was, of course, the fastest of the year, and the meet record, but it was the way that Wayde Van Niekerk raced the 400 meters that sent chills down fans’s spines. @WaydeDreamer did not come off the 300 meter mark in the lead, but made a short burst, took the lead, and relaxed to the finish, running the easiest 43.62 that this writer has ever seen.

How fast will Wayde Van Niekerk run? My belief is that the first sub 43 second 400 meters is only a matter of time.
Here is my live call of the South African’s 400 meters in Lausanne. We hope that you like it!
