Allyson Felix returned to the London Olympic stadium on July 9 and ran the fastest time in the world over 400 meters. Her 49.65 was well run, and the distance between her and the rest of the field should be noted.
Essentlially, the race over 400 meters in London will come down to, more than likely, Allyson Felix and Rio 2016 champion, Shaunae Miller-Uibo. Shaunae Miller-Uibo was castigated by many for leaning at the tape and falling in Rio. Truth was, it was one of the most amazing races from Rio and that type of finish has been seen and used by many athletes in past races. In fact, Jenni Prandini had leaned, fallend, leaped at the USA Olympic Trials in 2016, and taken last place in 200 meters from Allyson Felix.
Allyson Felix wants to win this race, and so does Shaunae MIllier-Uibo. That tellls me that we have a rivalry, and one heck of a 400 meter race coming in one month!
