Mutaz Essa Barshim is one of the most popular athletes in our sport. At the Bislett Games, in Oslo, Norway, Mutaz broke the ancient meet record fo the high jump, jumping 2.39 meters and breaking the old record. On 1 July, Mutaz won the high jump at 2.35 meters, and made three game tries at 2.38 meters.
In the pressers in Paris, some of the finest in the sport, Mutaz was asked what he would do after he broke the high jump world record, Barshim noted that he would continue to jump. This guy loves the high jump, and he wants that WR.
Mutaz Essa Barshim seems to be over his health issues that nearly ended his career. Barshim is quite popular in his country, Qatar, and many around the world love his theatrical approach and celebration of his clearances.
Barshim will go up against some fine high jumpers, with Erik Kynard, Robbie Grabbarz, Bohdan Bondarenko, among others in London. The men’s high jump will be a fascinating event in London.
