Unfortunately, Dalilah Muhammed did not make the second hurdle. By then, the race was on, and Ashley Spencer and Lea Sprunger were out fast. The US 400 meter hurdler took the lead off the turn and ran for home, running 53.90.
Lea Sprunger had 15,000 Swiss fans cheering on their fine sprinter turned hurdler (who was a heptathlete before). Recently, Lea had broken the Swiss NR for the 400 meters, with a 51.09. Her 54.26 PB and second place in Lausanne showed that Sprunger has the speed, endurance and determination to become a fine 400 meter hurdler.
