Mondo Duplantis, the new star of the pole vault, was a sensation at the Pre presser. Mondo’s parents were both athletes, his mom was a Swedish heptathlete and his dad, Greg Duplantis, won the Pre Classic PV in 1992.
Mondo Duplantis is a revelation. This young man is the whole package. He lives, breathes and enjoys the pole vault. He has a healthy ego. He is a student of the event. As a keen observer of this event, I believe Mondo Duplantis has the talent, and the ego to be a world champion. With his 5.90 meter WL , Mondo will be in the thick of things tomorrow at the Pre Classic. Here is his interview.
