One of the most interesting closing pressers that I have seen. This presser featured Daniel Wanjiru, David Weir and Mary Keitany. Hugh Brasher, the Race Director spoke first, and he was most effusive, praising the event and the fields. He spoke of the legacy of the London Marathon and where the event had been and could go. Daniel Wanjiru was very happy that he had won, and his enthusiasm exceeded his grasp of explaining his feelings in English, however, this young man will continue to improve in both his racing and his skills of communicaiton. Mary Keitany is a curious winner. She explained that her so called ‘reckless running’ was not reckless. She also said that since the sub 2 hour marathon efforts did not speak of women she would not speak of the efforts.
