One of the most significant events at the Doha DL was the women’s 200 meters. Elaine Thompson, the gold medalist in both the 100 meters and 200 meters in Rio, looked invincible. Nevertheless, Dafne Schippers and others will try different approaches to beating the double Olympic gold medalist.
Elaine Thompson looks flawless, running relaxed from the start, relaxed around the turn, and then took off down the straight. No one seemed to be able to fight her. Schippers made the closest attempt.
How will this race place out this season? We will have to wait and see, but the 24 year old Jamaican won her first race in Doha, and she has many more wins to come!
