Van Niekerk confirms Malmo
MALMO (SWE): World and Olympic 400 m champion Wayde van Niekerk is first confirmed star for the Malmo Games on 18 August (EA Classic), informs organisers. The meet will be held after World Championships in London. He is expected to run his main event 400 m and attack the stadium record 44.71 of Roger Black from 1991. Van Niekerk will compete on Friday and Saturday at South African Championships in Potchefstroom, he foresees three races on each day (heats, semifinals and finals of 100 m and 200 m).
