Ugen top long jump
SHEFFIELD (GBR, Feb 12): World indoor bronze medallist Lorraine Ugen pipped Katarina Johnson-Thomspon for the long jump title, jumping 6.72m in the last round to surpass Johnson-Thompson’s lead of 6.69m. Johnson-Thompson also clocked 8.42 in the 60m hurdles heat but was a non-starter in the final. Tom Bosworth produced the only world-lead of the second day, clocking a British record of 18:39.47 to win the 5000m walk. Eilidh Doyle won the 400m title in 52.63 from twins Laviai and Lina Nielsen, 52.86 and 52.89 respectively, while Jarryd Dunn won the men’s 400m in 46.97. Guy Learmonth won the 800m in 1:48.19, European 800m bronze medallist Elliot Giles stepped up to win the 1500m in 3:45.60 from Tom Lancashire (3:46.45) while European indoor silver medallist Lee Emanuel eased to the 3000m win in 7:55.91 to defend his title. Sarah McDonald won the 1500m title in 4:19.41 from 3000m winner Eilish McColgan (4:19.99). Elsewhere, Luke Cutts vaulted 5.43m to win his fourth pole vault title and Allan Smith cleared 2.25m to win the high jump on countback from Robbie Grabarz and Chris Kandu.
