Cheruyiot wants to follow Kipchoge
NAIROBI (KEN): Olympic 5000m champion Vivian Cheruiyot hopes to emulate Eliud Kipchoge when she moves up to the marathon starting with her debut in London in April, informs Capitalfm.co.ke. “I am so excited because it (London) will be my first marathon ever and I am going to race against the champions. I want to be like Eliud (Kipchoge) because since he started marathon he has been doing well and I hope I will do my best as well,” she said.

RunBlogRun opines: One must respect the marathon. Eliud Kipchoge told us, upon his first victory in London, that he took three years to figure out his training and his racing the marathon. Vivian Cheruiyot is one of the most exciting athletes in women’s distance running. Her focus in the 5000 meters in Rio was amazing, and her absolute domination of Almaz Ayana over the last 2 kilometers of the race, was one of the highlights of the Olympics.
How will Cheruiyot fare over 26. 2 miles? If she gives the event the respect it deserves, she will do quite well.
