ROUEN (FRA, Jan 28): Olympic champion Thiago Braz opened his indoor season with victory at the Perche Elite Tour in Rouen. He cleared 5.86m on his second attempt before three tries at a world-lead and indoor PB of 5.94m. Konstadinos Filippidis finished second on countback at 5.70m ahead of Kevin Menaldo and former world junior champion Axel Chapelle, whose 5.70m clearance was a PB. Shawn Barber and Renaud Lavillenie, who was making his season’s debut after injury, finished fifth and seventh respectively with 5.50m (Lavillenie needed three attempts) while world-leader Piotr Lisek no-heighted at 5.50m. Olympic decathlon silver medallist Kevin Mayer cleared 5.20m. Olympic silver medallist Sandi Morris won the women’s pole vault with a first-time clearance at 4.57m before three tries at 4.72m ahead of Annika Roloff at 4.40m.
