Shannon Rowbury came down from the proverbial mountaintop (7,500 feet) to run the Boston Indoor Grand Prix 3000 meters, finishing third in 8:41.94. She finished behind new training club mate, Sifan Hassan (8:40.99) as both felt the fury of Hellen Obiri, Olympic silver medalist at 5000 meters, who ran 8:39.08, the world leader.
This was a quick Instagram video (60 seconds). I apologize as I am just getting hang of this. Shannon told us she felt pretty good with the return from altitude. She now has races at Millrose and the US Indoor nationals, I believe.
The AR holder at 1,500 meters and 5000 meters, Shannon was in the hunt all race. She looked strong and just a bit short of the patented Rowbury kick. Always a pleasure to speak with, Shannon is a real talent.
