The West Regional of the FootLocker is the final regional in the FootLocker food chain. It is a brutal regional, with tough competition. And, yet, even with only a week from Nationals, West athletes tend to do quite well. Always a conundrum.
Claudia Lane of Malibu, California, merely a sophomore, won the West Regional in 17:21. The Malibu High School runner won by 35 seconds! Kearan Nelson, from Central Valley High school in Spokane Valley, Washington, was second in 17:56. Third place was Alexandra Beitia, a senior from Roseville, California’s Granite High School. Two returnees in the girls race were Kate Hunter, in 4th (Provo, Utah), and Jordan Oakes, (Seattle, Washington), who finished fifth place.

The boys race was won by now two time FootLocker National qualifier, Talon Hull. Talon comes from Ogden, Utah and Weber High School. Talon ran 15:29. In second was Tibebu Proctor, from The Northwest School in Seattle, Washington, in 15:32. In third was Amir, Ado from Ferris High School, from Seattle, Washington, in 15:41.
