Molly Huddle had a fine experience at her marathon debut.
The TCS NYC Marathon had great weather, but also some head winds. Molly Huddle went out hard, but when Mary Keitany, Asefelech Mergia and Joyce Chepkirui took off, Molly held back. ” Sally Kipyego did not go with them, I wondered if that was the right move.” Molly Huddle noted. ” I ran a mile in about 5:08, and that was really fast,” added Molly.

Running about twelve miles by herself, Molly Huddle kept her cool. Sally Kipyego went by, and held onto second place. Over the last 800 meters, Molly Huddle ran hard, and nearly caught Sally Kipyego, an athlete that Molly had battled over road and track.
This interview was done on Monday, November 7 at the final NYRR press conference. Molly Huddle looked happy, and relaxed after her first marathon, run in 2:28:13, finishing third place, and first American. Coach Ray Treacy, her coach, told @RunBlogRun that Molly had little time to train for her first marathon, and he thinks that she has a great future at the event.
So do we.
