Powell two more years
NEW DELHI (IND): Trackalerts informs that Jamaica’s former World 100m champion Asafa Powell said he will not run beyond 2018. He has ruled out the 2020 Games in Tokyo. “I am not thinking about 2020 right now, the farthest I will be going is 2018, maybe the Commonwealth Games and that’s where I see myself, just two years and not 2020,” said Powell, who was in the city as the brand ambassador for Sunday’s Airtel Delhi Half Marathon.
RunBlogRun opines: Asafa Powell is at either 96 or 97 sub ten second 100 meter races in his career. He has held the world record on several occasions and surprises people every few years with his ability to compete at such a high level. Two more years will give him the chance to be the first man to run sub 10 seconds for the 100 meters over 100 times!
