The race became interesting after 30k, when pacer Vincent Rono left the fray. After that, Kotut lead, then Kosgey and Korir followed.
At 38 kilometers, Mark Korir took off, building a quick lead over Kosgey and Kotut. But, Kosgey and Kotut stayed together until 40k. Over the final 2.2 k, Martin Kosgey battled the challenges we all have when a marathon is supposed to end and there is someone battlling you.
Martin Kosgey held on to second, running 2:07.22 to Kotut’s 2:07:29. This is his interview by Andy Edwards of Race News Services. Race News Services provides RunBlogRun and the RunningNetwork global content from their race partners around this small globe.
