More top names for Rabat
RABAT (MAR): More big names have been confirmed for the Rabat IAAF Diamond League on 22 May. World champion Piotr Malachowski leads the discus field which includes the top six finishers from the 2015 World Championships while world champion Yarisley Silva leads a class pole vault field which also includes Sandi Morris, Nikoleta Kyriakopoulou, Ekaterini Stefanidi and Silke Spiegelburg. Two-time Olympic champion Valerie Adams faces Anita Marton in the shot put while world champion Caterine Ibarguen goes head-to-head with world indoor champion Yolimar Rojas in the triple jump. A strong field in the long jump has also been recruited: Fabrice Lapierre, Mauro da Silva, Ruswahl Samaai and Marquis Goodwin. In total, 29 global champions past and present set to compete. From organisers.
Larry Eder responds:The Rabat IAAF Diamond League was a suprise to many. Truth is, meet has fine crowds and puts together strong fields. It is not, however, New York City, the media capital of the world. Instead of funding the New York DL, adidas is funding two meets, on May 13-14, in Herzogenaurach, Germany (adidas HQ) and June 17-18 in Boston, as both meets are part of the new adidas BOOST series.
