ELDORET (KEN, Apr 15): Sportsnewsarena.com informs that World Champions Asbel Kiprop and Nicholas Bett headlined the second day of competition at the Athletics Kenya fifth track and field meeting at Kipchoge Keino stadium in Eldoret. The 1500 m specialist Kiprop clocked World leading 1:44.6 while winning his semifinal. Thursdayheat time was officialy corredt to 1:45.2. Elijah Manangoi won heat two in 1:46.9 while Ferguson Rotich heat three 1:46.1. Kiprop said he will not run Saturday final at the distance. Bett won his 400 m hurdles heat in 51.8, his brother Haron Koech clocked 50.7 in another one. Timothy Cheruiyot won the men’s 1500 m semi-final one in 3:44.1, ahead of Edwin Kiptoo (3:44.4) and Mathew Kiptanui (3:45.7). Thomas Longosiwa, a 5000 m specialist, clocked (3:44.4) as the fastest qualifier. Eunice Sum topped her 800 m semifinal in 2:03.6 and Lucy Cheruiyot won the 10 000 m in 33:57.6.
