SAUCONY EXTENDS ENDORSEMENT CONTRACT WITH U.S. OLYMPIAN DUANE SOLOMON
Brand continues partnership with America’s best 800-meter runner, showcasing ongoing commitment to leadership in performance running
LEXINGTON, MA (December 18, 2014) – Saucony, committed to empowering the human spirit through running, announces that it has extended its contract with 2012 U.S. Olympian Duane Solomon, the fastest 800-meter runner in the U.S. This long-term deal will see Saucony work with Solomon through the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and beyond.
“I am so grateful and fortunate to extend my relationship with Saucony,” said 2012 U.S. Olympian Duane Solomon. “They took a chance on me when no other shoe company would and now our relationship is stronger than ever. Today, you can’t say my name and not think Saucony and you can’t think of Saucony and not think of me. I am excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait to bring many more medals to the Saucony brand.”
“Duane is an incredibly gifted runner and a tremendous person who shares the brand’s values as he inspires runners everywhere to ‘find their strong’ through the run,” said Mark Bossardet, vice president of sports marketing for Saucony. “Our partnership with Duane will help us as we continue to set the standards in performance innovation, creating the footwear and apparel that will empower runners to achieve their personal best. The whole Saucony team is excited to have Duane on board as the build-up to the 2015 World Championships and 2016 Olympics begins.”
Solomon currently holds the fastest time in the country for the 800-meter distance. His accomplishments include:
- 2012 U.S. Olympian, 4th in 800-meter final in London
- 2-time U.S. Outdoor Champion at 800-meters (2013, 2014)
- Second fastest American ever at 800-meters with personal best of 1:42.82
Solomon is presently featured in Whoa−Saucony's multichannel global marketing campaign that articulates−with just one word−the unprecedented sensation that runners experience when they step into the new Saucony ISO-Series collection of performance running footwear.
