Brooks Glycerin 12 Named Best Neutral Shoe in Running Network, LLC 2014 Fall Shoe Review
SAN JOSE – The Brooks Glycerin 12 took top honors in the Neutral category of the Running Network, LLC 2014 Fall Shoe Review.
“The Running Network shoe reviews have, since 1998, provided the consumer with a great series of options for finding the shoe that best fits their needs. From the tiniest of brands to the global leaders, Cregg Weinmann works hard to find you a shoe that makes sense for your feet,” noted Larry Eder, publishing director of Fortius Media Group, LLC.
The review process begins with carefully matching the shoes to the motion, foot shape, and footstrike of hundreds of wear testers. Testers evaluate and report on seven key performance characteristics throughout the 100-mile testing process. Data from the testers is entered into a software system developed by Cregg Weinmann, Fortius Media Group’s RN footwear reviewer, to produce a winner in each category.
“For the Fall Review, testers piled on hundreds of marathon training miles to put the shoes through their paces. This rigorous testing provides the critical feedback that validates the strengths of shoes from the various brands. The small differences between shoes are carefully compared within a matrix of features, price, and performance to determine the category winners,” said Weinmann. “Runners need to recognize that the general categorization of the shoes is only a starting point for them, and their needs should be their top consideration. The parity between brands has never been as close as it is now, meaning it’s more important than ever to find the shoes that fit and function best for you.”
“Round 12 of Brooks’ premium Neutral shoe, the Glycerin, features some dramatic changes. The reshaped drop geometry provides a smoother touchdown and the heel is narrowed and beveled into a rounded shape. The forefoot is flatter and flares to a wide platform, with a pronounced toe spring. A great fit is aided by a gusseted tongue, smooth stretch lining, and 3D printed overlays. A new foam, Super DNA, makes up the midsole. This shoe fits well, rolls with the foot, and cushions the foot from the road, earning the Brooks Glycerin 12 the title of best shoe in the Neutral category” (to quote the Fall review from Cregg Weinmann, Fall 2014).
“Snug fit with better support than my other shoes. Responsive, but not super cushy. They are a little lighter and faster than my normal training shoes,” said one wear tester, describing the Brooks Glycerin 12.
