Mark Kiptoo finished second in the BMW Frankfurt marathon last year, by a scant second! His 2:06.16 is his personal best. It was also his debut. In his second marathon, this past April, Mark ran 2:13.39 for ninth, as he learnt, the hard way, that the marathon is, as they say, a cruel mistress.
“This year, I want to run my personal best.” A man of few words, his track background, (winner African Champs, for 5,000 meters in 2012, and silver at 10,000m in same champs), and his nearly two decades in Kenyan Armed forces show a man of discipline and speed.
Making his marathon debut at the age of 37 at last year’s Frankfurt Marathon, the one year older, and wiser Kiptoo wants to improve upon last year.
This should be an amazing race!
