Arne Gabius will be the talk of German sports pages today. On Sunday, October 26, 2014, Arne Gabius, in his debut marathon, made a near perfect first marathon, with his 2:09.32. In running the first half in a very conservative 1:05.08, Arne Gabius used that 5,000m speed and his training with Coach Renato Canova and ran a 1:04.24 second half.
The significance of Arne Gabius’ marathon? It was the second fastest debut marathon ever for a German marathoner, only behind Jorg Peter’s 2:09:04. But, most importantly, Arne Gabius is the fastest German marathoner since 1990!
In this audio interview, done by Andy Edwards of Race News Service, done just after his superb race, Arne discusses his race at the 2014 BMW Frankfurt Marathon, and what led to the performance!
