Lemaitre for record in medals
ZURICH (SUI): All is set for the 22nd edition of European Championships at famous Letzigrund Stadium from next Tuesday. The whole elite of top European athletes is competing in 47 events. Some special duels like Lemaitre vs Gemili in 200 m, Rutherford vs Reif in long jump, Pars vs Fajdek in hammer or Hassan vs Aregawi in women 1500 m will be the headliners. World stars to be mentioned Bohdan Bondarenko in high jump, Renaud Lavillenie in pole vault, Robert Harting and Sandra Perkovic in discus or Barbora Spotakova in javelin. On the other hand some totally open events like men triple jump and decathlon or women 800 m. From European leaders 2014 all are competing but Pavel Maslak in the 400 m, Anna Chicherova in high jump and Katarina Johnson-Thompson in heptathlon. Missing also marathon leaders Aliaksandra Duliba of Belarus and Mo Farah is not running the marathon but track events. New championships records could be expected in men high jump and discus and women javelin and hammer. Christophe Lemaitre could attack the position of the athlete with most medals, he is now having 5 and most by any men is 6. Also Mo Farah with 4 medals could jump on top of this ranking. The event is also qualification for IAAF Continental Cup in September in Marrakech, top two will qualify but must be from different countries.
