BONDARENKO AND BARSHIM FLYING OVER 242
NEW YORK (USA, Jun 14): The adidas Grand Prix in good weather finally was one of the best editions of the meet in its history. In six events meet records, in six events world leads. Historical high jump which registered Diamond League records and Continental records. Rudisha back to winning, Blake after stumbling at the start beaten.
Men
100 m (non-DL): Blake stumbled at the start and was second 10.21 clearly behind Carter 10.09 (-1.9).
200 m: Weir unlike in Doha ruled here in 19.82 (-0.2) WL over Ashmeade 19.95 and Edward 20.06.
400 m: Merritt had it not that easy with 44.19 over van Niekerk South African record 44.38 and Ch. Brown 44.61 masters WR (35+). Briton Bingham in B race 45.13.
800 m: Rudisha comes back to his typical front running and won 1:44.63.
400mH: Culson improved WL by half of a second in 48.03, Tinsley 2nd 48.56 and surprise 3rd Fredericks 48.58.
HJ: Historical competition, never two in one competition cleared 242. On count back Bondarenko (equaled European record) beat Barshim with 242 (Asian record), third Protsenko 235 PB, fourth Kynard 232 injured groin. WR is coming close as specially Barshim was flying.
LJ: Henderson MR 833 (+1.6) was a positive surprise for US long jumping.
DT: Harting achieved what he wanted, MR 68.24.
Women
100 m: Bowie is the name on the circuit in 11.07 (-0.1) win over three Jamaicans Henry-Robinson 11.13 and Calvert 11.15 with Stewart 11.17.
200 m (non-DL): Bartoletta versatility, won the 200 m in 22.68 (-0.5) clearly.
400 m(non-DL): McCorory by a second 50.15.
800 m (non-DL): Something to cheer for Jamaican fans, Goule 2:00.28, Cain fourth 2:01.67.
1500 m: Aregawi back to winning 4:00.13 MR over young talent Seyaum 4:00.66. To note youth Efraimson 10th in 4:07.05 PB.
3000 m: Cherono was ahead of the others 8:39.84. Second Saina 8:40.65 and 3rd returning Gezahegne 8:42.54.
Steeple: Solo by Assefa in 9:18.58 MR.
100mH: Close finish Harrison in 12.62 (-2.1) beats Harper-Nelson 12.63. Lolo beat Billaud for third 12.77 and 12.85.
PV: Unexpected world lead for Murer 480 over home favorite Suhr 470 and Silva also 470, fourth Stefanidi 460 PB.
TJ: As expected this one for K. Williams 14.31 (+2.1).
SP: Adams and her 50th win in a row 19.68, but Carter was closer than expected 19.51.
JT: World lead for Stahl 67.32 was a surprise. Second Mitchell 66.08 and third Palameika Latvian record 64.86.
