The Prophecy is Mizuno’s full suspension, high end, neutral running shoe. Round 3 moves the needle a little bit with changes to the upper and dialing in the rest, the consistent approach Mizuno takes with its shoes. The upper is a closed mesh with a sublimated graphic in a bold geometric design.
While the look is a departure, the welded overlays represents a step forward, providing just enough structure while taking a bit of weight off of the shoe and also smoothing the interior. The midsole shares its heel suspension with the Creation, but goes it one better with the same Infinity Wave plate carried into the forefoot, and the U4ic polyolefin foam rides above the Wave plate providing an extra bit of cushioning against the foot. The outersole is crystal rubber still in the X-10 formulation, it just looks pretty cool while performing as expected. While a little spendy, if you are looking for a neutral shoe that maximizes the cushioning, then the Wave Prophecy 3 might be it.
Testers: “The fit was good, but not much stretch. A bit on the heavy side, though the unique cushioning system both absorbs shock and feels rigid – it needs to be felt to be appreciated. I like the way these almost glide along, for a very comfortable run.”
