MONACO (MON): World and Olympic shot champion Valerie Adams says that her training is going “very well” and that she has just finished a three week intensive phase with a lot of base work in which her knees and ankles both held up well, inform the IAAF. The 29 year old is currently training in Switzerland ahead of her season opener in Doha. She acknowledges that one thing that will challenge her in Doha is the heat as she says that it is only five degrees in Switzerland at the moment. Later in the year she aims to compete in her 4th Commonwealth Games where she will be looking for her third title.

(Editor’s note: Valerie Adams is the most dominating shot putter of her generation. As she opens the 2014 outdoor season, in Doha, Qatar on May 9, Valerie has an unbeaten streak of 46 competitions. Adam’s technique is admirable, but her speed in the ring and her competitiveness make her nearly unbeatable.
Possessed of a strong sense of humor, Valerie Adams represents her sport and her country well. The next time you get a chance, watch Ms. Adams throw, watch her compete. As Adams goes into the ring, nothing else seems to be happening. Adams is focused. The controlled speed, technique and focus all come together as she throws the shot over twenty meters.
If you want to see her, go to www.adidasgrandprix.com and purchase tickets for the 2014 adidas Grand Prix NYC, which will be held on Randalls Island at Icahn Stadium on June 14, 2014. )
