On Cloud Named Best Performance Shoe in Fortius Media Group, LLC, 2014 Spring Shoe Review
SAN JOSE, CA – On’s Cloud took top honors as the best performance shoe in the Fortius Media Group, LLC, 2014 Spring Shoe Review.
“Runners are very lucky. There is very little equipment that is needed. For the past two decades, the partners of Fortius Media Group have relied on Cregg Weinmann, the runningproductreviews.com footwear reviewer, and his team, to suggest the finest running footwear available. Our reviews are now available daily, via social media, on digital and in print. The Spring and Fall Shoe Reviews have always been our largest, although Cregg reviews on a monthly basis around the year. As always, we suggest that the five million runners and walkers who read our reviews make their purchases in their local running store. Read globally, buy locally is our mantra,” noted Larry Eder, the publishing director of the Fortius Media Group, LLC.
At the start of the review process shoes are carefully matched to the footstrike, shape and motion of hundreds of wear testers. Testers report on their initial impressions and evaluate the shoes throughout the testing process on seven key performance characteristics. The data is compiled and entered into a software system developed by Cregg Weinmann, the Fortius Media Group’s footwear reviewer, to produce a winner in each category.
“There is nearly a perfect shoe available for everyone, if you take the time to understand your footstrike and running needs, do the research and consult with your local running store,” said Weinmann.
The Cloud takes On technology to the next level. Once made of dense rubber, the outersole lugs on the Cloud have been transformed with much lighter road-grade EVA foam. The midfoot is secure with a partial gusset on the closed mesh upper and an overlapping saddle. In a nod to its triathlon roots, the Cloud comes with both traditional and stretch laces, as well as a smooth interior suitable for sockless wear. The midsole is a high-quality EVA blend with clouds along its length and is divided by a longitudinal gap that allows the foot to move naturally. Greater gait efficiency is achieved by 6mm geometry. To increase durability the outersole has a few touches of rubber at the heel and tow. The ride, fit and innovation of the On Cloud earned it the title of best shoe in the performance category (Weinmann 2014).
“Smooth-even plush-interior. Flexes well, has an agile feel to it; light and smooth. For my fast runs, these were what I reached for,” said one wear tester when describing their experience with the On Cloud.
