Brooks Transcend Named Best New Shoe in Fortius Media Group, LLC, 2014 Spring Shoe Review
SAN JOSE, CA – Best new shoe honors in the Fortius Media Group, LLC, 2014 Spring Shoe Review went to the Brooks Transcend.
“Runners are very lucky. There is very little equipment that is needed. For the past two decades, the partners of Fortius Media Group have relied on Cregg Weinmann, the runningproductreviews.com footwear reviewer, and his team, to suggest the finest running footwear available. Our reviews are now available daily, via social media, on digital and in print. The Spring and Fall Shoe Reviews have always been our largest, although Cregg reviews on a monthly basis around the year. As always, we suggest that the five million runners and walkers who read our reviews make their purchases in their local running store. Read globally, buy locally is our mantra,” noted Larry Eder, the publishing director of the Fortius Media Group, LLC.
Starting with the best running shoes available to consumers, shoes are carefully matched to each wear tester’s footstrike, motion and foot shape. After reporting their initial impressions, testers continue evaluating the shoes on seven key performance characteristics during the 100 mile testing process. All tester data is entered into a software system developed by Cregg Weinmann, the Fortius Media Group’s footwear reviewer, producing a winner in each category.
“There is nearly a perfect shoe available for everyone, if you take the time to understand your footstrike and running needs, do the research and consult with your local running store,” said Weinmann.
The new Transcend’s release has created quite the buzz. Though technically a replacement for the Trance, the Transcend is loaded with new concepts and features. The upper is closed mesh with both synthetic suede and no-sew overlays. The Guide Rails, a new concept, connect to the TPU structure that supports the heel. The rails use plastic ridges to keep the foot aligned over the midsole without affecting natural movement. The midsole maximizes cushioning with a 10mm drop and a measure stack height of 35mm. The midsole shaping provides full contact, increasing stability and making the ride plush but not mushy. The outersole is HPR carbon rubber in the heel and is rounded off to smooth the touchdown. Segmented Flextra blown rubber under the forefoot provides good flexibility. The performance, innovation and execution of the Brooks Transcend earned it top honors as best new shoe (Weinmann 2014).
“Looks spacey, but looks can be deceiving. The rise was well cushioned and pretty responsive. They fit well and were protective,” said one wear tester when describing the Brooks Transcend.
